What once felt limited in space and disconnected in flow became an opportunity to completely rethink how this home supports everyday living. Rather than simply adding square footage, the focus was on creating a layout that feels intuitive—where each space transitions naturally into the next, and the home functions as a cohesive whole. The goal was clear from the start: open up the living environment, expand the kitchen, and introduce new areas that feel like they’ve always belonged.
At the center of the transformation was a thoughtfully designed 380-square-foot addition, extending the main living area and allowing the home to breathe in a way it hadn’t before. This expansion wasn’t just about size—it was about proportion, light, and connection. Large openings between spaces improved sightlines and created a sense of continuity, while carefully considered architectural details ensured the addition blended seamlessly with the existing structure.
Complementing the interior expansion, a 144-square-foot covered deck was introduced, designed specifically for year-round use in Duvall, WA. A new powder bath was also integrated into the layout, adding convenience for both homeowners and guests. Its placement was intentional—easily accessible, yet unobtrusive—enhancing functionality without interrupting the overall flow of the home.
In the kitchen—the true heart of the home—the transformation was both structural and experiential. By expanding the footprint and removing barriers, the space evolved from closed-off and confined to open, welcoming, and highly functional. The new layout allows for better movement, improved workflow, and stronger connections to adjacent living and dining areas. More natural light, enhanced storage, and refined finishes elevate the space further, resulting in a kitchen that not only looks beautiful but performs effortlessly for everyday life.
From design and permitting to final construction, the project was guided with a clear plan and a consistent approach—bringing the vision from concept to completion with intention and craftsmanship.
We are so pleased to have chosen Verum construction for our home addition project. It was important for us to find a company that exhibited honesty and integrity. They have absolutely met that requirement so far. Dale was great in helping us come up with a design and offering suggestions we would never have thought of ourselves, all within our budget. Andy guided and assisted us with our interior selections, and Bryce brought the vision alive with project drawings and renderings, while dealing with the red tape of permits. Just met Thomas, who will be on-site as the project lead and we're looking forward to working with him. We are excited about the next phase of our project!

We were a little nervous to work with a construction company as we had heard from friends how difficult it could be. But we had the best experience with Verum. From the planning to the final walk through, they were professional, easy to work with, and dependable. The work by both Verum and their subcontractors was amazing. In the final walk through, they asked us to be honest and let them know what they could improve on, and we couldn't come up with anything.
